The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.

For such a basic recipe, the flavor really was good. We would have preferred the cabbage sliced thinner (quartered pieces are rather large) but otherwise we liked this quite well. Would say this serves more than listed, but it will depend on what else you serve with it.
