Sauteed cabbage, onion, and kielbasa make a perfect topping for pierogies, pasta, or boiled or mashed potatoes.

1/2 cup butter or margarine (do not use "spread")
1/2 large head cabbage, chopped into 1 inch pieces
1 onion, quartered and sliced
1/2 pound kielbasa, sliced into 1/2 inch pieces
egg noodles, store-bought pierogies, or boiled potatoes
Melt the butter in a large skillet. Add cabbage, kielbasa, and onion. Stirring occasionally, cook all on low to medium heat (heat can be higher if you're using a heavy bottomed skillet) till sausage is hot through, cabbage is tender, and onion is clear or almost clear, about 20-30 minutes (keep covered in between stirring).
Season with pepper to taste. Serve over your starch of choice.
