under 30 minutes
ingredients
3 pounds swordfish steaks, 3/4 inch thick
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
5 tablespoons butter or margarine
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper
1/2 cup chili sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1/3 cup lemon juice
2 tablespoons light brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
directions
Wipe steaks with damp cloth. Combine half the salt, half the pepper, and all the seasoned salt; use to sprinkle both sides of fish.
Arrange on greased rack in broiler pan. Dot lightly with 1 tablespoon butter and broil, 4 inches from heat, for 5 minutes. Turn fish and dot with 1 tablespoon butter, then broil 7 minutes longer.
Meanwhile, make barbecue sauce: In 3 tablespoons hot butter in a medium skillet, saute onion and green pepper until tender, about 5 minutes.
Add rest of ingredients, 1/2 cup water and remaining salt and pepper. Simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes. Serve over swordfish.

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.
