Old-Fashioned Chess Pie

1/3 cup butter
1 3/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons top milk (cream)
3 beaten eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 dash nutmeg
1 pie crust (9 inch)
Cream sugar and butter. Add milk, eggs, vanilla and a dash of nutmeg. Pour into pie shell.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes or until brown.
Custard test: Should be candy on top, custard beneath like a pecanless pecan pie.
