Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.

Poke cakes let the topping sink down into the cake creating layers of flavor (and a fun design when you cut into them)
1 (9x13-inch) baked and cooled white or yellow cake
2 packages (4 serving size) flavored Jell-o gelatin powder, any flavor
2 cups boiling water
Cool Whip or frosting
pie filling or fruit, optional
Using the handle of a wooden spoon, poke holes in the cake spaced 1/2-inch apart. The holes should be at least half the depth of the cake deep.
Combine the gelatin powder and boiling water and mix until the gelatin is fully dissolved. Let the gelatin mixture cool then spoon it evenly over the cake. Do not pour the gelatin over the cake.
Place the cake in the refrigerator and let it chill for 3-4 hours.
When ready to serve, spread Cool Whip or other frosting over the top of the cake. Garnish the Jell-o poke cake, if desired, with fruit or pie filling.
Use multiple colors of Jell-o to create unique designs
Pouring it can make the cake turn out soggy. Spooning the gelatin mixture over it makes sure that it slowly sinks into the cake.

Keeping a can of frozen orange juice concentrate in the freezer means you can make more than just orange juice. Try it in a variety of orange-flavored recipes.
What's the secret ingredient in these cakes? Pudding mix. It not only adds flavor but it gives the cake a richer, creamier texture. No one will know your secret ingredient!

For Halloween we made a white cake but added orange food color then used blue jello but added some black food color and then frosted it with white frosting and decorated with halloween decorations. Fun!
