For those who appreciate the fine art of baking, this Dutch cocoa chocolate cream cheese frosting strikes a delightful balance between rich and creamy.
2 cups powdered sugar
4 tablespoons Dutch cocoa powder
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons cream cheese
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup boiling water
Combine the powdered sugar and cocoa powder in a mixing bowl and mix well.
In a small saucepan, melt the butter and cream cheese over medium-low heat. Stir constantly until the mixture is smooth.
Add the cream cheese mixture to the mixing bowl and beat with a mixer on medium speed until the mixture is crumbly.
With the mixer running, add the vanilla. Then with the mixer on medium-high speed, slowly add enough of the boiling water until the frosting becomes smooth.
Pour the frosting over cake or other dessert and then chill for 5-10 minutes or until the frosting sets. The frosting will be soft.

It was very good creamy and thick. Nice!
This recipe works decently. the trick is to put very little water, and to add it in while beating and very slowly.

hey can i use this frosting with a lemon cake mix? will that taste alright?
what if i substituted ground sugar for the powdered sugar? and nesquik for the cocoa powder? sorry i dont have time to go and buy that stuff... thanks(:
there is too much water that is supposed to be added to this recipe! Maybe, use 1/4 cup of water and pour in until smooth! You may not even need to add all of THAT!!!
The recipe states to only add water as needed to get the desired consistency. "until the mixture thins enough to pour and becomes smooth".

This recipe was great! Very simple yet delicious, the key is to add the water in very slowly so you can get the frosting nice and thick!
I made this without the cream cheese and it was like chocolate soup!! I would never make this again!!
Um, maybe you should have used the cream cheese like the recipe called for then? The cream cheese acts as a thickener.
