ingredients

3 cups pared & diced raw potatoes
1/2 cup onions, finely chopped
1 cup boiling water
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
3 cups milk
2 tablespoons butter

directions

Cook potatoes, onion and salt slowly in the water. When potatoes are tender, add milk and butter and just bring to a boil.

REVIEW: recipe rating
when I was a child my father was a tenant farmer and we pretty much ate what we could produce in a truck patch, and store throughout the year. I remember having soup made like this so often through those winter months. Thanks for the reminder.

I was looking for a sample down-home potato soup recipe like my grandmother made. Yummmmmmmm THIS is it!
