Ranking #1 in nearly every "favorite cookie" poll, the chocolate chip cookie is pretty much the go-to cookie of choice for both kids and grownups alike.

Hearty and filling, and perfect for a cold winter day. Just throw all the ingredients into a slow cooker and let it do its thing. You'll have a delicious soup that the whole family will love.
1 pound cooked smoked sausage, halved lengthwise and cut into 1/2-inch slices
4 cups loose-pack diced frozen hash brown potatoes with onion and peppers
1 jar (16 ounce size) sauerkraut, rinsed and drained
2 tablespoons stone ground mustard
3 cans (14 ounce size) chicken broth
In a 4- to 5-1/2-quart slow cooker place sausage, frozen potatoes, sauerkraut, and mustard. Pour broth over all.
Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 4-6 hrs or on high-heat setting for 2-3 hrs.

This is a great recipe. It was my signature dish for our Friday Soup luncheons at work. We took turns bringing crockpots of soup throughout the fall and winter. Not only is this soup delicious, it is easy to transport the ingredients and assemble at the location. The only prep I did was to cut up the sausage ahead of time. The stone ground mustard is essential as it really makes the flavor pop. People who are lactose intolerant were pleased that it had no milk or cream in it.
