Milk Chocolate Butterscotch Cafe Cookies

This is a great way to make a batch of cookies from purchased cookie dough taste like homemade. You can use other refrigerated cookie dough flavors if you wish (the sugar cookie dough is the most basic so it gives you the most flexibility).

1 package (18 ounce size) refrigerated sugar cookie dough, at room temperature
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup butterscotch chips
2 (1.55 ounce size) milk chocolate candy bars, finely chopped

directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a large baking sheet.

Place the cookie dough in a large bowl and break up the dough with your hands.

Add the brown sugar and vanilla to the dough and mix well.

Stir in the oats, butterscotch chips, and chopped chocolate. Mix well until a stiff dough forms.

Drop the cookie dough by 1/4-cupfuls about 2 inches apart on the baking sheet. Flatten the cookies slightly using the bottom of a glass. They should be about 1/2-inch thick.

Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 13-16 minutes or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown.

Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool for 1 minute on the baking sheet then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely. Store the cookies in an airtight container.

    Color me impressed. These cookies actually turned out really good. I'm normally skeptical about starting with something pre-made and just trying to glam it up but these were good and yeah you wouldn't know they started with cookie dough.
