ingredients
1 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2 1/4 cups sifted flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 dash salt
1 teaspoon almond extract
directions
Cream shortening, adding sugar gradually. Add unbeaten egg; beat well.
Mix and add sifted flour, baking powder, and salt. Fill cookie press and form cookies on ungreased aluminum sheet. Bake in 375 degrees F oven for 10-12 minutes. Cool.

This is the TRUE recipe for Spritz cookies. NO BUTTER!!!! I grew up with this recipe and continue to make them now for gifts and never have a complaint. In fact my neighbor mows my lawn in the summer so he can get my cookies at Christmas time. Even if he didn't mow, I'd give them to him anyway. SHHH don't tell him!!!
