Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

ingredients
1 cup salted butter, softened
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
3/4 cup granulated white sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups instant masa de maiz
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 dash salt (optional)
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
12 ounces real chocolate chips
directions
Beat butter, sugars, egg, and vanilla until fluffy. Add masa, soda, and salt, mix well. Stir in the nuts and chips. Roll into balls about 1 inch in diameter or slightly larger.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheets at 375 degrees F for about 10 minutes. Allow to cool on cookie sheet for several minutes before you transfer them to a rack to finish cooling. They will fall apart if you try to transfer them too hot, and they will stick if you let them cool completely on the cookie sheet.

I tried this recipe out for treat day at work and they were a hit. Many asked for the recipe. The best part is that they were so easy to make. I originally cut the recipe in half, just to make sure it turned out OK. They were fantastic!!
