ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter
1 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
8 ounces semisweet or bittersweet chocolate
2 1/2 cups granola
1 cup dried cherries
1 cup chopped nuts, optional


directions

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In mixing bowl, cream softened butter, brown sugar and sugar until light. Beat in eggs and vanilla extract. In separate mixing bowl, combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt. Add to butter-sugar mixture.

Coarsely chop chocolate and add to dough. Stir in granola, cherries and nuts, mixing well. Drop teaspoonfuls of dough on cookie sheet. Press with fingertips to flatten slightly.

Bake 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool on cookie sheet. Transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
