Black Pepper Cookies

ingredients
3/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup castor sugar
1 egg lightly beaten
1 1/2 cup self rising flour
3/4 cup good cocoa powder
directions
Heat oven to 375 degrees F. Lightly grease baking sheet.
Cream butter, pepper, cinnamon, cloves and vanilla. Beat in sugar and continue beating until light and fluffy.
Beat in the egg. Sift flour and cocoa into bowl and blend dry ingredients thoroughly with the butter and sugar mix until a firm dough.
Lightly flour hands and roll spoonfuls of the dough into balls about 3/4-inch
Put on a baking sheet and press. Place in center of oven and cook for 12 minutes. Cool for a minute on tray and cool on cake rack. When cool, store in airtight container.
