A hearty stew made with mild Italian sausage and Italian vegetables in a rich tomato-based sauce.
1 1/4 pound mild Italian sausage, cut into 1-inch chunks
1 package (16 ounce size) frozen Italian-style vegetables
2 medium zucchini, sliced
1 can (26.5 ounce size) spaghetti sauce
1 can (28 ounce size) diced tomatoes in juice, undrained
1 can (6 ounce size) tomato paste
Brown the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook until no longer pink. Drain off any excess grease.
Add the sausage to the crock pot along with the frozen vegetables, zucchini, spaghetti sauce, tomatoes with their juices, and tomato paste. Mix well.
Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 4-6 hours or until heated through. Can also cook on high heat for 2 hours instead if desired.
Stir well before serving.

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

The directions say "steak" in them - is it supposed to have steak sauce? because I can't imagine steak added to it. I made it with the ingredients listed in the list and it was ok. I didn't love it though. Maybe the steak sauce is needed?

This was really good! You can vary the flavor by what spaghetti sauce you use. I didn't add the zucchini because the frozen vegetable blend I used already had zucchini in it.
