The "famous" $250 cookie recipe from Neiman Marcus. Even better than the legend behind the cookie is the delicious flavor of the cookies with two kinds of chocolate.

serves/makes:

ready in:
  30-60 minutes

ingredients

2 cups butter, at room temperature
2 cups sugar
2 cups brown sugar, packed
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
5 cups oatmeal
1 bar (8 ounce size) Hershey's chocolate bar, grated
24 ounces chocolate chips
3 cups chopped nuts (your choice)

directions

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

Combine the butter, sugar, and brown sugar in a mixing bowl. Beat on medium speed with an electric mixer until creamed together. With the mixer running, add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the vanilla.

In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder.

Process the oatmeal in a blender or food processor until it is a fine powder. Stir it into the flour mixture.

With the mixer running, add the flour-oatmeal mixture to the egg mixture. Mix until combined. Stir the grated chocolate, chocolate chips, and nuts into the cookie dough by hand.

Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place 2 inches apart on baking sheets. Place the baking sheets in the oven and bake at 325 degrees F for 8-10 minutes, or until baked.

Remove the cookies from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack. Store the cookies in an airtight container. These cookies also freeze well.
