The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.

These are INSANE! Don't particularly like either kahlua or coffee, but neither one of those flavors were overwhelming. Made this for a party last weekend and they were a huge hit!

I've been making these bars for years now. And whenever it comes time for a get together everyone askes for me to bring them. They are fantastic. I have also found out that if you are in a hurry you can use a store mix and just substitute all liquids with the kaluha. Its not as good but its a good substitute. Dont loose the recipe because you will make them over and over again.

They were perfect! Absolutely the best brownie recipe I have run across. For effect I run a toothpick back and forth across the surface of the brownies to make a pattern with the drizzly topping. This is a keeper for sure.

This recipe is fantastic - especially to wow your own guests or your host when bringing a dessert to a party. Make these - you'll love them!

4.5 to be more accurate. As the previous reviewer did, I doubled the topping, although I only used about 3/4 of it, and used the unsweetened chocolate I had left over from the batter (to counterbalance the frosting). A nice, cakey, chewy brownie with a kick-butt Kahlua/coffee frosting--although I did wind up with about 35 min total baking time. I call my end result "crack in a pan".

These are fabulous! Everyone who ate them gave them rave reviews. I did increase the chocolate in the topping to 2 ounces and 2 tablespoons butter since I thought that the original amount was a bit scant. Great recipe.
