Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

1-2 hrs
ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 pinch ground cinnamon
1 cup creamy peanut butter
2/3 cup lightly salted butter
2 cups firmly packed dark brown sugar
6 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3/4 cup milk
peanut butter icing (optional)
1/2 cup dry roasted peanuts, chopped
directions
Grease and dust with flour a 9 by 13 inch pan. Position shelf in lower third of oven and preheat to 350 degrees F.
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. In a large bowl, use a mixer to cream together peanut butter and butter.
Slowly add the sugar, beating until creamy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Beat in vanilla.
With mixer on lowest speed, alternately add flour mixture and milk to batter, beating after each addition, beginning and ending with flour.
Turn batter into prepared pan. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean and top of cake is springy when touched. Cool completely.
When cooled, spread with icing and sprinkle with peanuts.
