This is a quick and easy non-yeast version of hot cross buns that is made biscuit-style by rolling out dough and cutting it into rounds before baking.
2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
4 teaspoons sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup mixed candied fruit
1 cup milk
Glaze
2 teaspoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon milk
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, cream of tartar, cinnamon, nutmeg and sugar in a sifter or fine mesh sieve and sift together into a bowl.
Add the butter and cut in until it forms pea-sized crumbs. Stir in the raisins and mixed candied fruit.
Add the milk and stir quickly to mix and form a dough.
When the ingredients are all combined, turn the dough out onto a floured surface. Pat or roll the dough to a 7/8-inch thickness. Cut into rounds using a 3-inch biscuit cutter.
Place each round on an ungreased baking sheet. Using the back of a knife, gently press a cross on the top of each biscuit.
Combine the sugar and milk for the glaze. Brush the top of each biscuit with the glaze.
Place the biscuits in the oven and bake at 425 degrees F for 12 minutes or until done.

It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).
The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.
