Sixty Minute Yeast Rolls
- add review
- #3670

ingredients
1 cup milk
1/2 cup water
2 packages active dry yeast
1/4 cup butter or margarine
3 tablespoons sugar
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
directions
Combine milk, water and butter, and bring to baby-bottle warm. To start the yeast fast, dissolve the sugar and the yeast in the milk mixture. Add the flour a little at a time until you get your desired consistency.
Knead, place in oiled covered container, and let rise in a warm place 15 minutes.
Punch down, and shape into about 24 small rolls in a shallow greased baking pan. Sides should just touch--don't pack. You have to work quickly, because this dough rises fast! Let the shaped rolls rise 15 minutes.
Bake in a preheated 450 degrees F oven 12 minutes, or until nicely browned.

Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Excellent recipe but 12 mins at 450 is about 3 mins too long!

This is a good recipe for yeast rolls. I tried something awhile back from another recipe which turned out like harden clay. This recipe has a great texture to them. May add a touch more sugar next time for my preferences. I only made a half recipe for my needs at the time which the size I made was a quantity of 15.

Were good and easy to make. Next time I will add a bit of salt....
one time these rolls will rise other times it they don't i've made them numerous times and i have to throw them out.
Humdity and indoor temps can play a part in that. Grandma always said "Don't make bread on a rainy day". If you are having inconsistent results it seems like it must be something outside of the recipe itself.

This was my first time making rolls and they turned out so well I immediately started another batch. Very simple to do without a lot of steps.

This recipe worked wonderfully! I used half white flour and half whole wheat bread flour, kneaded it for 5 minutes in my kitchen aid, and other than that, did everything as the recipe indicated. I'm eating them as I type--delish! Thanks!
