ingredients
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup milk
3 tablespoons lemon juice
directions
Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda and salt into large bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
Combine milk and lemon juice. Quickly stir into flour mixture to form a soft dough. Turn onto lightly floured board. Knead slightly.
Form into small balls about the size of marbles. Put three balls into each greased muffin cup (about 2 1/4-inch diameter). Bake in 450 degrees F oven 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

I made this recipe with a bunch of first and second graders. Not only was it ridiculously easy, the rolls are delicious. Everyone LOVED them.
