The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.
This iconic whiskey is a "Jack of all trades" when it comes to cooking. Toss it in some pasta, as a savory dipping sauce, and even bake it into something sweet.

I don't know why several people say there is no eggs. This recipe calls for 4 eggs and no water. The batter is thick but makes a delicious bundt cake.

I did not add the water as the other reviewers did and it was great! I left out the 1 ounce unsweetened chocolate since I didn't have any. I also used walnuts instead of pecans. Was done in exactly 50 minutes at 350 and was delicious!!
Continued from last review: I was asked by 8 different people for this recipe. I'm sure you don't add items from the cake box instructions.

I made this without using the other ingredients listed on the cake box. It got rave reviews from my husband's workplace and my husband ate THREE pieces. I think you might think that the thickness of the mixture won't come out right, but I made it EXACTLY the way the recipe read and it came out great. Did you guys actually make the cake??

I made it without an extra cup of water and it also turned out great (the batter will be pretty thick). The cake is delicious and moist and rich enough that it doesn't need frosting. A sprinkle of powdered sugar is just the right touch.

I believe an ingredient was omitted from this recipe: 1 cup water. The batter did not look right, so I added the cup of water and the cake turned out DELIGHTFUL!! Also, I used German chocolate instead of semi-sweet, but I think either would have done nicely. Anyway, I highly recommend this one for a party or potluck, as I have gotten nothing but rave reviews each time I make it. Thanks!

Umm..this cake doesn't have eggs. I thought that seemed strange and against my better judgement I tried it anyway...it's a wet mess and a waste of ingredients...guess my office won't be getting a cake tomorrow. I think the person who posted this made a huge mistake. Boo.
