Sour Cream Donuts

ingredients
3/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup milk
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups sifted flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
directions
Combine cream and milk; beat until foamy. Gradually add sugar and eggs, beating until sugar is dissolved. Stir in vanilla and sifted dry ingredients. Chill for 1 hour.
Roll 1/2-inch thick. Cut out doughnuts. Fry in deep hot fat (365 degrees F) until brown on both sides and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.

I was very disappointed with this recipe. I was hoping it would be similar to the sour cream donuts you buy at Dunkin Donuts. The dough was much, much too wet. I needed at least another whole cup of flour, probably more. When they fried, they came out more like a cake donut - not the heaviness of a sour cream donut as I had hoped. Will not try again.
