  1. lifetime DAYS fan REVIEW:

I love Days of our Lives and this recipe is from Alice Hortons kitchen. Thought I'd give it a trial run for Doughnut Day. I'm an avid baker so I made the full batch and was very, very disappointed. The baked doughnuts came out flat (had new flour & baking powder) and made the perfect dog biscuits to which my dog is still enjoying. I decided to deep fry the rest of the batch. Much better and tastier.

I made a half recipe. While these came out fairly well, I can't recommend them as donuts, unless you like heavier cake donuts. But they were quite tasty right out of the oven! I might add a little more salt next time, as these didn't have very much depth of flavor, a little too bland and sweet.

    • The issue with the heavier texture may be due to you halving the recipe. Not all recipes halve or double perfectly and this is most commonly a problem in baked goods because there is more "chemistry" involved between the ingredients.
