Jello Marzipan Fruits

30-60 minutes
ingredients
1 3/4 cup shredded coconut
1 package (3 ounce size) Jell-O Gelatin, any flavor
1 cup ground blanched almonds
2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon almond extract
directions
Combine all ingredients and mix until well blended. Shape into small fruits or vegetables by hand, or use small candy molds.
If desired, use food coloring to paint details on fruit; add whole cloves or citron or angelica for stems and blossom ends.
Chill until dry, then store at room temperature in covered container.
Appropriate flavors for various fruits and vegetables are: strawberry flavor gelatin for strawberries; lemon flavor gelatin for grapefruit, bananas, lemon, Bartlett pears; Concord grape flavor gelatin for grapes; lime flavor gelatin for green apples, leaves, stems, limes; orange flavor gelatin for carrots, pumpkins, tangerines, oranges; cherry or black cherry flavor gelatin for cherries.

I'm so sorry if this posts twice .. But very dumb question .. Do you just mix the jello mix or actually prepare the jello just don't let it set ?!! Please if someone could get back to me ASAP I'd greatly appreciate it - I've been dying to try this recipe! I LOVE MARZIPAN !!
Just use the dry jello mix, you don't prepare it first.
I made these for my own wedding reception, 25 years ago. I lost the recipe and am delighted to finally find it again! I want to make some for Thanksgiving they are fun and easy to make. I think that they were rolled in appro;riate color jello then in sugar.
