Melt In Your Mouth Walnut Cookies

ingredients
1 cup butter or margarine
1 cup corn or vegetable oil
1 cup sugar
1 cup powdered sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
walnut halves
powdered sugar
directions
In a large bowl, cream together butter, oil and sugars. Add all other ingredients, except walnuts and additional powdered sugar. Mix well.
Refrigerate dough for at least one hour or overnight.
Form dough into 3/4-inch diameter balls and arrange on well oiled baking sheet. Press a walnut half into each cookie.
Bake at 350 degrees F for 10-13 minutes until golden brown.
Sprinkle cookies with powdered sugar. Best served warm.
