Sweet potato fries are so underrated. These couldn't be easier, either! Skin-on fries save the trouble and mess of peeling; oil, salt and chili powder are all you need to spice these fries to perfection. Oven-baking keeps them healthy, too.

ingredients

2 (5 ounce size) sweet potatoes, washed, unpeeled
1 tablespoon grapeseed, canola, or olive oil
1/2 teaspoon ancho chili powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

directions

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with non-stick foil.

Cut the sweet potatoes in half then slice into 1/2-inch x 1/2-inch sticks. Place the fries in a zip-top plastic bag and add the oil. Seal the bag and gently turn and massage the bag to coat the fries in the oil. Transfer the fries to the prepared baking sheet.

Season the fries with the chili powder and place in the oven. Bake at 425 degrees F for 15 minutes.

Turn the fries over and increase the oven temperature to 500 degrees F. Bake for 15 more minutes or until browned.

Remove the fries from the oven and season with salt. Serve hot.

cook's notes

These are not crispy sweet potato fries, they will be soft with an almost creamy texture.

  1. snowstorm REVIEW:

Love these. I do add 2 tsp brown sugar with the ancho chili powder to get an even sweeter spicy flavor.
