1 egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup milk
2/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoon oil
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/3 teaspoon salt
oil, for frying
powdered sugar
directions
Combine the egg, milk, sugar, and oil in a large bowl. Sift the flour, cream of tartar, baking powder, and salt into the egg mixture. Stir until well mixed.
Heat oil in a saucepan. Carefully drop batter by small spoonfuls into the oil. Remove with a slotted spoon when browned on all sides. Drain on a paper towel.
Roll donut holes in powdered sugar while still warm.

I made these for the kids today. The only changes I made To the recipe is that I added vanilla extract , cinnamon and freshly grated nutmeg ( all to taste ) They were delicious . Then I rolled them in cinnamon and powdered sugar . They were fast and easy to make .
