Yam Fluff Salad With Ginger Cookies

2 cups mashed yams or sweet potato
1/4 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 large carton cool whip
1/2 cup ginger cookie crumbs
1/2 cup broken ginger cookies
1/2 pint whipping cream, firmly whipped
1/2 cup miniature marshmallows (optional)


Mix together mashed and whipped potatoes with brown sugar while still warm. Add ginger, nutmeg, nuts and cinnamon.

After cooled, fold in Cool Whip. Add broken pieces of ginger cookie. Fold in whipping cream. Place on serving bowl and sprinkle cookie crumbs on top. Garnish around edge with small ginger cookies. Keep chilled prior to serving.
