Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.

under 30 minutes
ingredients
1/2 pound green beans
2 teaspoons sesame seeds
1 clove garlic, finely chopped or pressed
4 teaspoons sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
2 dashes black pepper
directions
Steam the beans.
While they are cooking, toast the sesame seeds in a small frying pan over medium-low heat. Stir them so they don't burn. The sesame seeds are done when they begin to look shiny and a bit brown. Remove them from heat.
When beans are cooked and dry, put them in a bowl and add the garlic, sesame oil, soy sauce and pepper. Stir well. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Serve hot.
To serve cold, allow beans to cool. Then, cover the bowl and refrigerate until you are ready to serve.
