ingredients
6 cups cooked elbow or salad macaroni
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
3 cups finely shredded cabbage
1 green bell pepper, seeded, finely chopped
1 large carrot, shredded
3 tablespoons finely chopped onion
1 clove garlic
1/4 cup French salad dressing
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
directions
Cook macaroni as directed on the package; drain well and cool. Combine sour cream with salt and pepper and add to cooled, drained macaroni; stir to coat well, being careful not to mash the macaroni.
On top of the macaroni, put the shredded cabbage, green pepper, carrot and onion; blend in all at once with two forks, the tines of which have been rubbed with a cut surface of the clove of garlic.
Combine French dressing with sugar and dry mustard. Add to salad and mix.

Pumpkins aren't just for pies or Halloween decorations. These large, orange gourds - while naturally sweet - also work well in savory dishes. They pair well with poultry and pork (and especially bacon) and their creamy-when-cooked texture blends easily into soups.
