1 pound elbow macaroni
1 medium onion, chopped
2 pounds ground beef
1 can (28 ounce size) crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Cook the pasta in salted water in a Dutch oven as directed on the package. Drain the pasta and return it to the pot. Set aside.
Meanwhile, heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and onion. Cook, stirring frequently, until the beef is no longer pink. Drain off any excess grease then add the browned beef and crushed tomatoes to the pasta.
Add the salt, seasoned salt, and black pepper to the pasta mixture. Place the Dutch oven over medium heat and cook, stirring frequently, until all is heated through. Serve hot.

Recipe calls for seasoned salt, what kind or flavor?
Seasoned salt is usually labeled as such (just look for "seasoned salt"). Lawry's makes it as do other brands.

I love it, grew up eating it. My wife is from Germany they make it with peppers and chopped pork and beef, quite extravagant. I made hamburger goulash, She loved it, and simple to make, its cold out making it today

This is a good, hearty recipe made with simple ingredients that can be adjusted to suit your tastes. "Goulash" is one of the types of dishes I will cook when I just don't feel like cooking a more elaborate meal with lots of chopping, dicing, and stirring. It's ready quickly and always tastes great.

I added canned black beans and some minced jalapeno to give this a little more pizazz.

This clearly is a simple recipe but my husband wanted to cook last night and he has only cooked maybe once in the 8 years we have been married. He made this recipe and it turned out pretty good. He added some hot sauce to it. It's very filling. The kids really enjoyed it.
