The Relief Society is an organization within the LDS church. This decadent potato casserole recipe was shared among church members.

ingredients
6 potatoes
1/2 cup diced onion
1/4 cup melted and cooled butter
1 1/2 pint sour cream
1 can (10 ounce size) cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup
garlic salt, to taste
black pepper, to taste
directions
Peel the potatoes and place in a pan of water. Bring the water to a boil over high heat and cook until almost soft, about 15 minutes. Drain the water and let the potatoes cool until they can be handled.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
When the potatoes are cool enough to handle, shred or chop them and place in a bowl.
Add the onion, butter, sour cream, soup, garlic salt, and black pepper and mix gently.
Transfer the potato mixture to a 9x13-inch baking dish. Place the potatoes in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes.
Serve hot.
