The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

Collard greens with plenty of hot sauce, just how they like it in the South. These tasty greens flavored with bacon drippings, brown sugar, and smoked turkey would be a welcome side dish on any plate.
1 bunch collard greens, cleaned and stems removed
1 smoked turkey wing, chopped in half
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
2 teaspoons hot pepper sauce
2 tablespoons bacon drippings, or use butter or oil
1/2 cup low sodium broth or water
1 pinch brown sugar
Thinly slice the collard greens and place in the crock pot.
Add the smoked turkey, salt, pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, hot sauce, bacon drippings, broth, and brown sugar. Stir to combine.
Cover the crock pot and cook on high heat for 2-3 hours or until the collard greens are tender. Stir the greens occasionally during the cooking time.
Remove the turkey wing pieces before serving.

Not to be confused with evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk is very sweet (and very sticky) and used primarily in desserts.

Never cooked collards myself before. This was a little spicy for me but we liked it. Added a little more brown sugar when I tasted it and saw it was spicy.

Best collard greens I've ever had! I used bagged, prewashed and cut greens, and six slices of bacon, cooked and chopped instead of the turkey wing. I also used butter. It was wonderful, but only took about half the cooking time in my crock pot. Enjoy!!
