The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

5 slices bacon
3 large-sized potatoes
salt
black pepper
1 large onion
1/2 pound Cheddar cheese or process American cheese product
1/2 cup butter or margarine
directions
Fry bacon in a skillet over low heat until crisp. Drain on paper towels. Crumble bacon into small pieces.
Peel potatoes, slice them thin, then put them on a large piece of foil. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Spread bacon crumbs over potatoes. Peel the onion, cut into thin slices, and place them on the crumbs.
Cut cheese into small cubes and dot over onion slices. Cut butter into squares and cover the cheese with them. Wrap the foil around this potato mixture and seal the edges tightly. Cook over hot coals for 1 hour. Turn over several times while cooking.
