It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

Broiled beef liver is a great, rich alternative to steak. Onions sauteed in butter are piled on top of the tender liver that's been lightly seasoned.

2 tablespoons butter
3 medium onions, sliced
2 pounds sliced beef liver
seasoned salt, to taste
black pepper, to taste
garlic powder, to taste
Preheat the oven broiler.
Heat the onion in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft.
Meanwhile, season the liver with seasoned salt, pepper, and garlic powder as desired. Place the liver in a single layer on a broiler pan. Broil for 4-5 minutes per side or until just light pink when cut into. Actual cook time will depend on the thickness of the liver. Be careful not to over cook.
Remove the liver from the oven and top with the cooked onions. Serve immediately.
