1 pound bulk pork sausage
3 pounds lean ground beef
1/3 cup ketchup
1 cup finely crushed cracker crumbs
4 eggs, beaten
1 large onion, finely chopped
1 small green bell pepper, finely chopped
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
Sauce
1 bottle (14 ounce size) ketchup
1 jar (12 ounce size) apple jelly
directions
Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine the sausage and beef in a large bowl and mix together. Add the ketchup, cracker crumbs, egg, onion, bell pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Form the mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a rimmed cookie sheet or baking pan. Place in the oven and bake at 350 degrees F for 20-30 minutes or until they are cooked.
While the meatballs are cooking, combine the ketchup and apple jelly for the sauce in the crock pot. Mix well. Add the cooked meatballs and stir gently so they are covered in the sauce.
Cover the crock pot and cook on high heat for 1-2 hours or on low heat for 3-4 hours. Stir gently before serving.
