1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 teaspoon anise seeds, crushed
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon, ground
2 cups flour
sugar
directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Cream butter and sugar, beating until light and fluffy. Beat in vanilla, anise, and cinnamon. Stir in flour.
On lightly floured surface, use floured rolling pin to roll out dough to 1/4" thickness. Cut out cookies with cookie cutter and transfer to an ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with sugar.
Chill cookies 30 minutes before baking. Bake cookies 5 minutes, reduce heat to 300 degrees F, and bake 10 minutes more.
Remove cookies from pans and cool on wire racks.
