A can of cream of mushroom soup can be a real dinner saver. It works great in casseroles and can turn into a sauce or gravy in a pinch.

Cornish game hens rubbed with olive oil, garlic, and spices, slow-cooked with snap peas and carrots make a guest-worthy meal
2 Rock Cornish hens (about 16 ounce each)
1 clove garlic, sliced in half PLUS"PLUS" means this ingredient in addition to the one on the next line, often with divided uses
2 cloves garlic, diced
1 red onion, thinly sliced
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 cups sugar snap peas or green beans
2 cups baby carrots
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons black pepper
2 teaspoons rubbed sage or rosemary
Rinse hens and pat dry.
Insert half a garlic clove and one slice of red onion into cavity of each hen. Rub hens with salt, pepper, and chili powder. Drizzle olive oil over hens; rub oil into spices with fingers to create a paste.
Place sugar snap peas, remaining sliced red onion, baby carrots, salt and pepper, sage, and diced garlic on bottom of crock pot. Place hens on top.
Cover and cook on LOW for 5-6 hours, until hens are tender and juices run clear. (I usually test the hens by twisting the drumstick; if it twists easily, the meat is done.)

Iâm nowhere near being a great book and I KNEW THAT IN ORSER TO STUFF THE HENS THEY MUST BE DEFROSTED. my meal turned out delish.. I used broccoli and mashed sweet potatoes for side dish!!
It looks really good will definitely try this one.

I got a good laugh out of imagining the person trying to stuff the frozen birds. I'm not sure why the other person didn't find the hens "interesting". The spice blend was nice and did a good job of seasoning the poultry. I used green beans not snap peas and found the meal enjoyable. The hens are so small that stuffing them with the onion and garlic really does add a lot of flavor.
The effort I put into this dish! Searching for the peas and the cornish game hens, how excited I was! I will never serve this to my family again! The chickens NEVER cooked (five hours on low indeed!) Even the vegetables were still raw! Game hens are usually frozen, but there is no indication about thawing them out overnight or what? What a waste of perfectly good food! Game hens should be roasted! I have a reputation in my family for my cooking! It's a good thing one bad recipe won't destroy it entirely!
You should never EVER put frozen whole poultry in a slow cooker. It's very dangerous. Sarah's directions don't specifically say to thaw the birds (and nowhere does it say to use frozen ones) but it's definitely implied (you can't easily stuff the cavity of a frozen bird!). So no, your hens wouldn't have been able to cook in 5 hours and the frozen birds probably kept the slow cooker from reaching its full temperature and cooking the vegetables properly.

Strange combination of foods, and the hens were well cooked but not particularly interesting.
