common recipe questions
What is apple butter and where can I find it?
Apple butter is a concentrated spread made by slow-cooking apples with sugar and spices until it reaches a thick, dark consistency. It can typically be found in the condiments section of grocery stores.
I've never heard of red cabbage with apple, where do I find it?
Most stores should have it near the sauerkraut. If you can't find it you can shred and cook your own cabbage if desired.
Should I sear the pork roast before placing it in the crock pot?
Searing the pork roast before placing it in the crock pot can add flavor and texture, but it is not necessary for this recipe.
How do I know when the pork roast is done?
The pork roast is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 160 degrees F, as measured with a meat thermometer.
Can I add other seasonings or spices to the dish?
You can adjust the seasonings to taste with herbs like rosemary, thyme, or paprika.
Can leftover pork roast be reheated?
Leftover pork roast can be reheated in the microwave or oven until heated through. To keep it moist, add a splash of broth or water before reheating.
How should I store leftover pork roast?
Store leftover pork roast in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. It will not freeze well, however.
