ingredients

1/2 pound ground beef
1/2 pound Italian sausage, casings removed
1 jar (16 ounce size) marinara sauce
1 can (4.5 ounce size) sliced mushrooms
1 can (14.5 ounce size) Italian-style diced tomatoes, undrained
1 package (9 ounce size) refrigerated or fresh cheese tortellini
1 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

directions

Crumble the ground beef and Italian sausage into a large skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until browned. Drain. Combine the ground meats, marinara sauce, mushrooms, and tomatoes in a slow cooker. Cover, and cook on LOW heat for 7 to 8 hours.

Stir in the tortellini, and sprinkle the mozzarella and cheddar cheese over the top. Cover and cook for 15 more minutes on LOW, or until the tortellini is tender.

  1. Guest Foodie REVIEW:

We really enjoy this recipe. It's a lifesaver on busy days since I can put the sauce ingredients in the crock before I go to work and don't have to worry about them overcooking. I just add the tortellini when I get home and we're ready to eat by the time everyone get settled in. And it always turns out delicious. Sometimes I omit the meat in the sauce and use sausage filled tortellini.

My family and I loved it. It was very good and easy to make.

  3. dono REVIEW:

My husband and I really like this dish. We found it makes enough sauce for twice the pasta and can freeze half for another night. Did add 1 tbs oregano and basil for a more italian flavor.

Please do you have a recipe for gluten free tortellini, my grand daughters faverite dish but can't eat wheat flour. IPM

If you use the dry tortellini by Barilla, you can add everything at the beginning, let cook for 5-6 hrs. and everything is ready at the same time. Just a thought.
