ingredients

1 package (16 ounce size) frozen perogies
1 cup diced onions
1/2 cup diced bacon

directions

Place the perogies in the crock pot.

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and bacon to the skillet. Cook, stirring, until the onion is soft (the bacon should not be crisp).

Pour the contents of the skillet over the perogies. Stir gently to coat them in the mixture.

Cover the crock pot and cook on low heat for 3 hours. Stir (gently) once or twice during the cooking time.

Serve the perogies with sour cream, if desired.

crock pot notes

Crock pots/slow cookers all heat differently. There is no standard among manufacturers. Cooking times are suggested guidelines based on our testing. Please adjust cooking times and temps to work with your brand and model of slow cooker.

recipe tips

Use high-quality frozen perogies for the best flavor and texture.

Cook the onions and bacon until the onions are soft but not browned.

Try adding garlic or herbs like thyme or parsley for extra flavor.

Top the perogies with shredded cheese before serving for a gooey, cheesy finish.

For a crispy texture, finish the perogies in a hot skillet after slow cooking.

Serve with different sauces like ranch dressing or hot sauce for a variety.

Try different flavors of perogies, such as potato and cheddar or sauerkraut and mushroom.

Stir in a dollop of cream cheese or sour cream before serving.

Worked like a charm! I set up all the ingredients in the crock before I left to run errands and pick up a rotisserie chicken to serve with the perogies. Came home and dinner was basically made!

  2. AZURE REVIEW:

I agree that this is a great way to dress up frozen perogies so that they taste like you made them from scratch.

  3. Perogie Lover REVIEW:

I do this same thing in the fry pan and it takes a whole lot less time. If you have to saute the onions first, you might as well do it all in the pan. Either way tasted the same to me.
