The name, vodka, comes from the Russian phrase zhiznennaia voda, or "water of life". It can be made from everything from potatoes to beets. It's considered to be fairly flavorless which makes it a great liquor for mixed drinks.

ingredients
1/2 pound Polish sausage, cut into 1/4-inch slices
1/2 pound ground beef
3 tablespoons chopped onion
5 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
2 cans (16 ounce size) pork and beans
1/3 cup ketchup
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons molasses
1 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoon prepared mustard
directions
Brown sausage and remove from skillet. Discard drippings. Brown beef and onion, then drain.
Combine all ingredients in a 2-quart casserole dish. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes.

I made these for the first time on the 4th of July for a big family cook out. They were a big hit and I have made them several times since. But I leave out the sausage and it is just as good.
