Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Kick your tartar sauce up a notch with some jalapeno peppers added to the mix.
1 1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons finely chopped capers
4 tablespoons finely chopped dill pickle
2 1/2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
2 tablespoons finely chopped jalapeno peppers
2 dashes Tabasco sauce
1/2 teaspoon minced fresh parsley
salt, to taste
Combine all the ingredients, mixing well. Place in a covered container and refrigerate for 1-3 hours before using.
For a smoother consistency, blend the ingredients in a food processor or blender.
Add a pinch of sugar to balance the acidity, if desired.
Try adding different herbs like cilantro or chives, instead of parsley.
Mix in some mashed avocado or Greek yogurt for a thicker sauce.
Try adding a splash of pickle juice for extra tanginess.
Allowing the flavors to meld in the refrigerator for a few hours will boost the taste of the tartar sauce.
You can use regular mayonnaise or a light mayonnaise for a lower calorie option.
You can use pickled jalapenos if you prefer a milder flavor. Just adjust the amount to taste.
The spice level will depend on the individual jalapenos used. To control the heat, remove the seeds and white membrane before chopping.
The jalapeno tartar sauce will last in the refrigerator for up to 5-7 days if stored in an airtight container.
It is not recommended to freeze mayonnaise-based sauces, as they can separate and become watery when thawed.
The jalapeno tartar sauce is a versatile condiment that pairs well with fried fish, seafood, chicken tenders, sandwiches, or as a dipping sauce for vegetables.
Capers add a briney flavor to the tartar sauce but if you wish you can omit them and add more dill pickle instead.
Mixing Bowl: A medium-sized mixing bowl is needed to combine all the ingredients for the tartar sauce.
Measuring Cups and Spoons: For measuring the mayonnaise, capers, dill pickle, lime juice, jalapeno peppers, and parsley.
Chopping Board and Knife: A sturdy chopping board and a sharp knife are necessary for finely chopping the capers, dill pickle, jalapeno peppers, and parsley.
Spatula or Spoon: To mix the ingredients thoroughly in the bowl.
Covered Container: A container with a lid for refrigerating the tartar sauce after preparation. It should be airtight to keep the sauce fresh.
Grilled Fish Tacos: Use the jalapeno tartar sauce as a zesty topping for fish tacos.
Crispy Onion Rings: Dip crispy onion rings in the jalapeno tartar sauce. The sauce's creaminess balances the crispy texture and adds a fun flavor twist.
Pan-Roasted Shrimp: Serve roasted shrimp with a side of jalapeno tartar sauce. The richness of the sauce harmonizes beautifully with the sweetness of the shrimp.
Baked Potato Wedges: Use the jalapeno tartar sauce as a dip for crispy baked potato wedges.
Grilled Chicken Sandwich: Spread the jalapeno tartar sauce on a grilled chicken sandwich for a flavorful twist.
Crab Cakes: Serve crab cakes alongside the jalapeno tartar sauce. The sauce enhances the seafood flavors with its tartness and spice.
Fish and Chips: Use jalapeno tartar sauce instead of traditional tartar for a more adventurous take on fish and chips.
Deviled Eggs: Use the jalapeno tartar sauce in the filling for deviled eggs. Mixing it into the yolk adds a fun zesty kick.
Stuffed Avocado: Fill halved avocados with a mix of shrimp and jalapeno tartar sauce for an easy lunch or light dinner.

SO GOOD! Loved the "heat" to it. Not overpowering, just right. Going to double the recipe next time I make it.
Not so good. I used fat free on 2/3 of the mayo and am glad I did. The small amount of real mayo I used really overpowered all the other flavors. I would not use real mayo and really cut back on the oveall amount of mayo. Need to step up the jalapeno / Tobasco to give it some kick.

I live in Charleston,SC, we eat seafood daily. This is by far one of the best tartar sauce I have ever had. My family loved it too.
