Slow Cooker Pork Shanks With Sauerkraut

ingredients
1 can (14 ounce size) plain sauerkraut, not drained
3 medium onions, diced
2 pounds center cut pork shanks
2 ounces applesauce
1 1/4 teaspoon caraway seed
1/2 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 bay leaves
2/3 cup water
directions
Place the sauerkraut and onions in the bottom of the crock pot. Place the pork shanks on top.
Combine the remaining ingredients and pour over the top of the shanks.
Cover the crock pot and cook on high heat for 2-3 hours or until the pork shanks are tender and the meat is falling off the bone.
Remove the bay leaves before serving. Serve the shanks with the sauerkraut.
