ingredients
2 1/2 pounds peeled, deveined shrimp
2 medium onions, chopped fine
2 teaspoons garlic, finely chopped
1 teaspoon fresh ginger, finely chopped
1 green chili, finely chopped
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 cumin powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika powder
1/4 teaspoon garam masala powder
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/2 cup tomato puree
2 tablespoons cooking oil
directions
Heat oil in a pan. Add the chopped onions and saute till onions are light brown. Add the chopped, ginger, garlic, chilies. Saute for a minute. Then add the turmeric, chili, paprika, cumin powder. Stir.
Add the washed shrimp. Saute on high heat for about a minute or till the prawns turn pink.
Now add the tomato puree and let simmer on medium heat for 5 to 10 till the shrimp is cooked. The sauce should be slightly thick. Lastly add the brown sugar and garam masala powder. Stir and remove from heat. Serve immediately with rice or roties.
