Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

Shrimp is slow cooked in a seasoned broth and then mixed with peas, tomatoes, and cooked rice before serving.

12 ounces frozen shrimp, thawed
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 cup frozen peas, thawed
1/2 cup diced tomatoes, fresh or canned
2 cups cooked rice
Place the shrimp in the bottom of the crock pot. Pour the broth over the top then sprinkle with the garlic powder, chili powder, and oregano.
Cover the crock pot and cook on low for 2 hours.
Stir the peas, tomatoes, and rice into the crock pot. Turn the heat to high. Cover and cook for 10 minutes or until all the ingredients are heated through.
Serve hot.
