1/4 cup sake wine
1 cup mirin wine
1 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/3 cup water
Combine sake and mirin wines in a medium pan and bring to a boil. Add soy sauce and sugar. Simmer, covered, for 30 minutes.
Dissolve cornstarch in water and add to boiling mixture. Cook and stir until mixture thickens.
