Ah, the unassuming envelope of onion soup mix. It's more than just for onion soup (or dip). It adds tremendous flavor (and convenience) in all these recipes.

1 pound lean beef chuck, cut in 1/2 inch cubes
1/2 cup red wine
1 can (10.5 ounce size) consomme, undiluted
1/4 teaspoon rosemary
pepper, to taste
1 medium onion, chopped
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
1/4 cup flour
Put meat in a casserole with the wine, consomme, pepper, rosemary and onion.
Mix together flour and bread crumbs and stir into beef mixture. Cover and bake at 300 degrees F for about 3 hours.
Serve with rice or noodles.
