Believe it or not, baking bread from scratch doesn't need to be a lot of work. This is a no-knead yeast-raised bread. And, as a bonus, it's fat-free.

ingredients

2 envelopes fast rising yeast
2 2/3 cups warm water
4 egg whites
2 teaspoons salt
1/3 cup granulated sugar
6 cups all-purpose flour, more as needed

directions

Dissolve 2 envelopes of fast rising yeast in the warm water. Mix egg whites, salt and granulated sugar

Add this to 6-7 cups of all-purpose flour. Mix with a wooden spoon. Divide into two loaf pans sprayed with a non-stick cooking spray. Let rise 40-60 minutes in the oven at its lowest setting until dough is almost to the top of the pans. Set oven up to 350 degrees F. Bake for 35 minutes.

cook's notes

This is extremely easy. Since there are no added preservatives, if there is any left after the first day, you should wrap and keep in the refrigerator.

  1. paditur REVIEW:

I made this and not only was it the easiest to make but it was absolutely delicious! I served one loaf at a party and had the other for my very picky husband and everyone just loved it. Thank you for posting this recipe. My only wish would be to have had the nutritional values readily available.
