It may look like a sad little package shoved in the back of your freezer, but frozen spinach actually has a lot of culinary uses (and some may surprise you).

3 cups milk
2/3 cup cream
3 tablespoons glucose (simple syrup)
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup egg yolk
2 tablespoons black sesame seeds
Bring the milk, cream, glucose and half of the sugar to a boil. Mix the rest of the sugar together with the egg yolk. Pour the hot milk mixture into the egg mixture.
Roast the black sesame seed lightly. (Just to bring out the aroma). Let it cool down before grinding it. Add the black sesame seed into the cooled mixture.
Pour the mixture into the ice cream machine. When finished, refrigerate it.

I had black sesame ice cream at a restaurant so I was eager to try my hand at it. The texture was very creamy and it had good flavor. I had no problem finding black sesame seeds at my local supermarket. The recipe calls for glucose but you can substitute corn syrup if you can't get plain glucose. I'm knocking this down a bit though for procedural reasons. The directions are a little unclear and leave out a few steps. For example it tells you to add the sesame seeds to the cooled ice cream base but it never actually tells you to cool the mixture. Also, it says to refrigerate the ice cream and I'm pretty sure that should be "freeze" it unless you want to drink your ice cream.
